The Arkansas Genealogical Society offers a Certificate of Arkansas Ancestry, a form of recognition for the descendants of Arkansas settlers in four categories
- Colonial__ a resident of Arkansas before 1 January 1804
- Territorial __ a resident of Arkansas before 15 June 1836
- Antebellum __ a resident of Arkansas before 6 May 1861
- Nineteenth Century __ a resident of Arkansas before 31 December 1900
The category in which the certificate is issued will depend upon the proof of
residency document submitted with this application.

Applicants must submit:
- proof of direct descent from an ancestor who resided in Arkansas in the period of the category claimed
- a family group sheet for the ancestor for whom the certificate is claimed
- a photocopy of an original document proving Arkansas residency for the ancestor
- a check or money order in the amount of $10.00 for the certificate
Submit one application for one certificate. Additional applications may be submitted, but each application must be distinct.
